A Sacred Space for the Nervous System to Exhale

 There’s a moment I witness in every women’s circle.

It doesn’t happen all at once - it’s more of a soft shift. A hand resting gently on a heart. Shoulders dropping away from the ears. A sigh. A shared smile. A stillness that enters the room when we realise… we’re safe here.

In the language of the nervous system, what’s happening is co-regulation. A move from protective activation into relational safety. A subtle return from “doing” into “being.”

This is what the Sacred Women’s Yoga Circles are for.
Not to push. Not to fix. But to offer women an experience of being met — just as they are — in a space that invites presence, softness, and restoration.

We gather every 6 weeks or so in a space called The Sanctuary — and it lives up to its name. Nestled in nature, birdsong around us, the energy of the room invites a downshift before we’ve even rolled out our mats.

The circle flows in three gentle parts:

  • An opening welcome where we land, share, and listen (no masks required)
     
  • A nourishing yoga flow and relaxation to reconnect with breath and body
     
  • Afternoon tea and soulful conversation — followed by a deeply supportive restorative yoga practice to help the nervous system settle and integrate
     

As a counsellor, yoga teacher, and trauma-informed space holder, I’ve come to understand that healing doesn’t always happen in the big breakthroughs. Sometimes it’s in the small moments of co-regulated presence — where someone offers you tea with tenderness, or a room breathes together in quiet trust.

So many women I work with are carrying so much — emotionally, mentally, physically. Often we’re performing calm on the outside, while our inner systems are in a state of quiet overwhelm. And in this modern pace, there are few places where we can truly exhale.

This circle is that place.

It’s not therapy.
It’s not a performance.
It’s not about achieving anything.

It’s about returning — to your body, your breath, your truth, and your belonging.

Every part of the circle is designed to be nervous-system sensitive.
From the rhythm of the afternoon, to the way we transition between practices, to the language used — it’s all held with care. And women often leave feeling more rested, more connected, and more able to meet life from a centred place.

You don’t have to be “ready.”
You don’t have to be flexible or experienced.
You just have to be you.
